Illuminate Your Exterior With Landscape Design Lighting
One often overlooked aspect of landscaping by homeowners is landscape design lighting. Light is an important part of the whole landscaping package, both in the front and back of the home. The wide array of outdoor lighting items available are made to fit most every residential and commercial application. There are many reasons to illuminate the dark. One of course is safety. Homes and businesses are better protected with motion sensor lights that come on if there is a person or persons walking in the area. If there are any potential burglars in the area, the light shining on them should send them on their way.
Front porch lights are very common and a fixture for most every home. They make it easy to see and safer to approach your porch at night. Many people leave them on when they know they will be returning home after dark. Also, when guests arrive after dark a porch light is helpful for them. These type of lights come in many styles, from free standing pole lamps to bulbs attached to the porch and enclosed in a decorative housing of some sort.
Outdoor light is also used for its beauty. There are soft night lights for the outdoors that can softly brighten your garden. For the backyard, there are all kinds of different light sources. For entertaining, try hanging Chinese lamps or using Tiki torches. If you are someone who spends time sitting outdoors in the dark on balmy nights, consider a fire bowl, which provides both heat and light in a beautiful, safe and natural way. There are also solar powered outdoor night lights that come on when you pass them to light your path in the dark.
Light is an important part of our lives. You may find that you spend more time on the front porch and in the backyard, even after dark. Guests will love your evening parties, especially if you make good use of fun lighting products. Landscape design lighting can be a do it yourself project or something you can consult a professional to handle. There are some books that may give you some ideas, such as The Landscape Lighting Book by Janet Lennox Moyer and Garden Lighting by John Raine. There are other comparable titles yo may want to check out also for a broad view of outdoor lighting choices.
